So this is where it started my first console for an Xmas present. Non stop on this console playing sonic, super hang on, and columns. I still think its the best console Sega and there mascot Sonic is number one.
So back out and first task fine mother board revision so we know what capacitors to change.

So this is IC BD M5 PAL so back to ConsoleMods
VA6.5 (1992-1993, Asia, North America and PAL)
The VA6.5 is simply a VA6 with the EXT port and its line filters removed, since the EXT port was unused in most markets. No other changes were made, though consoles with this board have a large blank space on the rear where the EXT port once was. The “VA6.5” name originates from Sega service documentation[14] and is not denoted on the board itself. Many of these used the 315-5313A or 315-5313A-01 VDP.
One thing that amazed me when looking at the board was the lose wires on the board and not traces on the board and how easy it is to.chamge the led for power. It does need a good clean on the shell as power sticks but all works good. Tested it with sonic but still needs the slots cleaned as this is a 30 year old console.
So as mentioned retrosix for the cap kit. Alot to chamge on this one.

As you can see alot to change.
Another mod.i want to do to this along with the others is USB-c PD power and again Retrosix has done some work on this that I’ll be following and installing.
